Caught on wrong foot, rail zones asked to remove political ads from premises

Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav Sunday wrote to all zones, asking them to remove all kinds of political advertising from railway premises after a series of instances of violation of the model code of conduct.
The message sent to all zonal general managers and divisional railway comes days after railways had to explain why tickets issued to passengers had photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the MCC had come into force.
Just two days ago, a tea cup bearing the BJP' election campaign slogan "main bhi chowkidaar" created a furore.
"Dear GMs/DRMs, any advertisement having photograph of any political leader on railway ticket, any other railway stationery, railway coaches, railway stations, any other railway premises should be immediately removed and advertising agency should be suitable informed," the message from Yadav says.
EC sources on Saturday said that Railways have been asked to explain the prima facie violation of the model code of conduct. It has also been asked to explain the person responsible for the tea cups carrying the chowkidar slogan.
The EC is learnt to have invoked the 'party in power' clause of the poll code in the case as it could be averred that party in power' is using government transporter for election publicity.
"Reports that tea has been served in cups labelled as 'main bhi chowkidar' have been investigated. This was without any prior approval of IRCTC. Explanation has been sought from Supervisor/Pantry Incharges over lack of devotion to duty. One lakh fine has been imposed on the service provider. Show cause notice has also been served to the service provider for this misconduct," IRCTC had said in a statement on Friday.
This particular cup was found on board 12040 Kathgodam Shatabdi. Tea was served twice in these cups.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Monday launched the EMISAT satellite along with 28 other satellites from other nations, including 24 from the US from the Sriharikota launch station at 9:27 am.
The mission would witness the Isro placing payloads in three orbits and conducting space experiments for the first time.
The EMISAT satellite is aimed at electromagnetic measurement.
This comes days after DRDO's successful testing of an anti-satellite missile with Mission Shaktithat boosts India's national security.
Isro's third generation workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) was used in the launch. This was PSLV's 47th flight, Isro said.
The four-stage PSLV-C45 blasted off from the second launch pad at the spaceport of Sriharikota, at 9.27 am Monday.
The mission marks several firsts to the credit of the space agency as it would manoeuvre satellites in various orbits and orbital experiments including on maritime satellite applications.
The other 28 international satellites -- 25 3U type, two 6U type and one 2U type nano satellites -- are from Lithuania (two), Spain (1), Switzerland (1) and the United States (24).
All these satellites are being launched under commercial arrangements, ISRO said.
According to Isro, a new variant of the rocket PSLV-QL equipped with four Strap-On motors in the first stage was used for the launch.
PSLV, also used in India's two key missions -- "Chandrayan" in 2008 and Mars Orbiter in 2013, is a reliable and versatile launch vehicle for Isro with 39 consecutive successful flights till June, 2017 and five-in-a row from January 2018.
The rocket has encountered only two failures so far -- its maiden developmental flight ended unsuccessful way back in 1993. In September, 2017 the flight went off without any hitch but the IRNSS-1H Satellite could not be released into orbit after the PSLV-C39's heat shield failed to open on reaching the orbit.
In Monday's mission, Isro scientists would place the satellites and payloads in three different orbits, a first for the agency.
During this initiative, all the other 28 customer satellites, totally weighing about 220 kgs, were also released by lowering the fourth state to around 504 kms orbit.
Again, the fourth stage would be reignited and further lowered to 485 kms orbit to serve as an orbital platform for carrying out space borne experimentations for the first time in ISRO's history.
According to ISRO, this is the first time it has been envisaged to provide a micro-gravity environment for research organisations and academic institutes to perform experiments.
The PS4-fourth stage hosts three payloads in this mission.
They are automatic identification system from ISRO for Maritime satellite applications capturing messages transmitted from ships.
Automatic Packet Repeating System from AMSAT (Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation), India will assist amateur radio operators in tracking and monitoring position data.
Advanced Retarding Potential Analyzer for lonospheric Studies (ARIS) from Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) for the structural and composition studies of ionosphere.
The previous launches by ISRO this year include the imaging satellite Microsat-R for military purpose along with 1.2 kg Kalamsat in January onboard PSLV-C44.
In February, Isro launched India's communication satellite GSAT-31 from the European launch service provider Ariane from French Guiana.

Will request BJP's sister organisations to not support Modi, Shah: Mamata Banerjee

Will request BJP's sister organisations to not support Modi, Shah: Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday urged BJP's sister organisations to not support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party chief Amit Shah during the national polls.
Addressing an election rally here organised by Chandrababu Naidu's TDP, Banerjee said the BJP won't get a single seat in Bengal and the party won't cross the 125-mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
"BJP has sister organisations, I would like to request them that if you love the country, please don't support Narendra Modi and Amit Shah," the West Bengal chief minister said.
"This is a special election. There are not many people to fight for the country, please vote for Chandrababu Naidu. Modi and Shah bully everyone," she added.
Taking on the BJP, the Trinamool Congress chief said the BJP will not get a single seat in Bengal.
"In 2014, Modi got 21 out of 119 seats in Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal that was your best time," Banerjee said, adding that the BJP will not get more than 125 seats in this election.
"In UP, he got 73 seats when the Samajwadi Party and the BSP fought alone. Now they have come together. In Odisha too they won't get any seats," she said.
Banerjee also challenged Modi for an open debate and attacked the prime minister for not addressing any press conference during his tenure.
"Modi didnt address a presser in five years. He reads from tele-prompter and says he has a 56-inch chest," the TMC supremo quipped.
She said the country needs a prime minister who doesn't differentiate between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
"Modi said demonetisation would curb terrorism, but it is maximum under his government," she said.
Supporting Arvind Kejriwal's demand for full statehood for Delhi, Banerjee said the issue needs to be resolved.

RADHA RAVI EXPRESSES REGRET OVER HIS COMMENTS ON NAYANTHARA, IS READY TO VOLUNTARILY RESIGN FROM DMK
Actor and politician Radha Ravi who demonstrated his crassness and made his backward opinion on women evident to the world in a trailer launch event, had met the press and expressed regret over his comment. On 23rd March, he was invited for the trailer launch of a film called Kolaiyudhir Kaalam directed by Chakri Toleti featuring Nayanthara where he spoke ill of the actress. He said that in olden days KR Vijaya only played Goddess but now anyone can play such roles and drew reference to Nayanthara.

Seeing the uproar on this issue, Radha Ravi called for a press interaction and said, “Media has always been encouraging me to talk. Even on that day, the press appreciated my speech. If I had spoken wrong there, I am sure they would have condemned then and there. No one condemned me on that day because I did not speak anything wrong. But if needed, I can express my regret to Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan as they belong to my field. I feel bad that my comments have affected them. I am ready to go to their house or I even welcome them to my place. I have no fear as I have not done anything wrong”.

SAPNA CHAUDHARY CLARIFIES THE CONTROVERSY ABOUT HER PHOTO WITH PRIYANKA VADRA

SAPNA CHAUDHARY CLARIFIES THE CONTROVERSY ABOUT HER PHOTO WITH PRIYANKA VADRA
Sapna Chaudhary clarifies the controversy about her photo with Priyanka Vadra

After Mahesh Pathak was named from the Mathura seat of the Congress party, rumours that Sapna Chaudhary was going to be given that seat started to fade out. It was initially speculated that the dancing singer from Haryana would be contesting against BJP's Hema Malini in Mathura, where the Jats dominate the region. The reason for this speculation was a photo of Sapna Chaudhary and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (general secretary of the AICC in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh) started to go viral.

"I have not joined the Congress party. The photograph with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is old. I am not going to campaign for any political party," said Sapna Chaudhary in a press conference. However, the public remains confused about Chaudhary's political advents as Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar welcomed her to the party in a tweet. This photo remains to be verified by Sapna, herself.

However, a photo of a Congress Membership Form with Sapna Chaudhary's name and signature tells another story. The fee receipt is also attached. Here's a copy of the same obtained by ANI:

Sapna Chaudhary, 28, is a native of Rohtak in Haryana. She shot into the limelight with her dance on popular a Haryanvi song - Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal. Her fame then propelled as she participated in the eleventh season of Bigg Boss, a reality show currently hosted by Salman Khan.  Chaudhary made her Bollywood debut with an item number — Hatt Ja Tau in the movie Veerey ki Wedding.

JANA SENA CHIEF PAWAN KALYAN’S LATEST GIMMICK INVOLVES FOOD AND A TREE

JANA SENA CHIEF PAWAN KALYAN’S LATEST GIMMICK INVOLVES FOOD AND A TREE
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan enjoys a meal beneath the trees

Lok Sobha Elections 2019 will soon take place, politicians are doing the best to their ability to garner the attention of the public. It looks like Pawan Kalyan has joined the club too. The actor turned politician, on Sunday, was spotted sitting and having his lunch under a tree in between his campaign. Pictures and videos of him donning a white kurta-pyjama set and enjoying his meal have taken over the internet.

The videos have him eating his lunch out of a clay vessel under a tree. One wonders whether it is a publicity stunt or what as the videos appears to be something that is preplanned. He seems to be sitting in a backyard or a lawn of a guest house and enjoying his meal. We can also see security personnel in the background. Check the picture and videos here.

Kalyan was also in Gajuwaka recently to file his nomination from the Assembly segment in Visakhapatnam district and it was more than a festival for his fans to welcome their favourite star to their place. Throughout his rally, on his way to the municipal office, he stood on the top of his vehicle and was surrounded with an infinite number of fans who had reached Gajuwaka from the surrounding districts to give their hero a grand reception.

While addressing at the meeting, he thanked fans for their joyous welcome and said, “We are going to form a government and your favourite Pawan Kalyan will take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.”

“We have fielded winning horses in the election race. By fielding former CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana, YSRC leaders will not come for campaigning as they will shiver while facing him. In some places, we have fielded mass leaders. Our candidates are fielded based on who the opponents fielded. If they field an intellectual, we are doing the same,” he added.

Just recently, he also questioned the wisdom of the Supreme Court’s directive that the public should stand up and show respect when the national anthem is played in the theatres.

“I don’t like to stand up when National Anthem plays in theatres. A leisure time such as watching a movie with family and friends has now been made into a test to demonstrate one’s patriotism,” said the Jana Sena chief.
