President of Marvel Studios.

for everything," "Deadpool" actor Ryan Reynolds.

"We are not interested in Narendra Modi. We are
interested in the country," says Naidu.

chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Photo: PTI
Eight months after his party quit the BJP-led NDA, TDP chief
N Chandrababu Naidu joined hands with Rahul Gandhi's Congress in what he said
was a step towards building a national alternative to the ruling dispensation.
"We are working for a national alternative to the
BJP," he said in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor
with the India Today Group, after announcing an alliance with Rahul Gandhi's
party.
He called the move a "save-India, save-democracy"
endeavour. "This is save India, save the country and save democracy,"
the TDP chief accused the BJP government at the centre of "destroying
every institution".
Naidu disagreed with suggestions that the political
partnerships he was trying to stitch together aimed only at unseating PM
Narendra Modi.
"We are not interested in Narendra Modi. We are
interested in the country; we are interested in India," the TDP leader
insisted. He recalled his role in the past in building the National Front, with
V.P. Singh as Prime minister.
"As a senior politician of the country, I have made so
many efforts so many times for alternative platforms. The National Front, the
United Front," he recounted.
Naidu acknowledged that he was meeting leaders from a
cross-section of political parties in order to firm up a broader,
national-level anti-BJP coalition.
"I am talking about save India, save democracy. It is a
bigger platform. I am meeting all leaders. We are working for an alternative to
the BJP," he said.
Naidu reiterated that leaders he was meeting were ready to
sink their political differences out of "democratic compulsions." BSP
chief Mayawati and her rival Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party would work
together, Naidu insisted.
"Both Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati are going to work
together. There were political compulsions earlier. Today, there are democratic
compulsions." Asked whether Rahul Gandhi would lead the proposed alliance,
he said the question would be settled through consensus.
"We'll discuss all these things. It is a
consensus," he said. He disagreed with notions the BJP had no strong
alternative on the national landscape.
"Before elections, what was the great effort of the
BJP? Where did they exist? At that time everybody then thought there was no
alternative for the Congress.
Today, you are saying there is no alternative for the BJP.
This is not correct," he said.
Asked whether he saw himself as a future leader at the
centre, he said, "I am not an aspirant. But I will do my bit. I will play
my role for bringing everybody (together). We will work together. Somebody will
do, I will follow. Ultimately, I will do my best whatever is possible for this
great nation."

At UN, Pakistan attacks growing arms sales to India
Pakistan has attacked growing arms sales to India by several
countries, including the US and Russia, calling them "double
standards" that jeopardise regional balances.
This month signed a deal with
Moscow to buy an advanced air defence missile system, the S400, at an estimated
cost of about $5 billion. (Representative image)
"The policy of double standards towards South Asia,
based on narrow strategic, political and commercial considerations, must be
eschewed," Jehanzeb Khan, a First Secretary, in Pakistan's UN Mission,
said on Monday during a debate on conventional weapons in the General Assembly
committee dealing with disarmament.
He did not name India or the countries selling weapons to
India, but the context made the references clear.
Khan said in an obvious reference to India that in South Asia "one state's
military spending grossly and vastly outnumbers that of others" and that
"this has the potential of fueling instability and jeopardising the
delicate regional balance."
"Islamabad was concerned over the growing transfers of conventional
armaments especially in volatile regions that are inconsistent with the
imperatives of maintaining peace, security and stability," he added.
He said, "Pakistan, for its part, is committed to the
establishment of a strategic restraint regime in South Asia, which includes an
element of conventional force balance.
He did not say how Pakistan would achieve a conventional
force balance with India given the wide disparities in the economies of the two
countries nor did he acknowledge that India's military capabilities have to
take China into account.
Pakistan is smarting under US decisions to block military
aid.
Last month, Pentagon said it would withhold $300 million aid
in what is known as coalition support funds citing Islamabad's failure to curb
terrorist organisations including theHaqqani Network and the
Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The Congress cut $500 million in payments to Pakistan from
the Defense Department budget in March.
In January President Donald Trump's administration announced it was blocking
most military aid to Pakistan estimated to be in the range of $1.3
billion.
Meanwhile last month, India and the US signed the Communications Compatibility
and Security Agreement (COMCASA) paving the way for India to access and buy
advanced weapons and military technology.
The US is also pitching several advanced military jets and other weaponry to
India.
This month India defied the US, which has threatened sanctions on those making
military purchases from Russia, and signed a deal with Moscow to buy an
advanced air defense missile system, the S400, at an estimated cost of about $5
billion.

Maharashtra government Thursday said that 268 people had died due to swine flu
in the state between January and October this year and 32 people were on

The
state Health department Thursday also released guidelines for the treatment of
swine flu patients.
"Maharashtra

guidelines, according to which swine flu patients should be treated, will be
sent to all government and private hospitals in the state," Health

Mr

suffering from cold and fever in case their condition does not improve in 24

Xiaomi Ecosystem Product Launch | #SmartLiving
Xiaomi announced major upgrades to its Mi TV portfolio. The new TVs are called Mi TV 4 Pro and the upgrades come in both, the software and the hardware.
In the software department, the PatchWall interface has been given serious overhauls. For instance, Mi is tying up with more partners. In fact, with the new PatchWall all existing and new Mi TVs will support Amazon Prime Video soon.

This means there’s no need to change modes and waste time while, let’s say, looking for a particular film. The best result will be displayed on your screen and you are given a choice to select the mode according to your interest.
Mi TVs will also support the Android Play Store. In fact, Xiaomi announced that there are nearly 1,600 apps optimised for the Mi TVs and more are on their way.
All existing Mi TV models will receive this update.
On the hardware end, the Mi TVs will now feature a Bluetooth-enabled remote instead of the traditional infrared remotes. This means you no longer have to point the remote towards your screen.
The new TVs will be powered by Amlogic 64-bit dual-core processors with 7th generation imaging engine with support for more codecs, allowing support for more high quality content. Connectivity options on the TV include three HDMI and two USB ports along with LAN and AV ports.

The Mi Air Purifier 2S comes with high-precision laser sensor which can detect particles that measure less than 0.3 microns. It also comes with a 360-degree triple layer filter with activated carbon that removes particles up to PM2.5.
