Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav's comments on Narendra Modi becoming prime minister again. Yogi Adityanath said Mulayam Singh Yadav's comments come from his appraisal of the ground reality.
"Mulayam Singh Yadav knows the ground reality that is why he spoke the truth. What he said in the last session of the 16th Lok Sabha is simply the mood of the nation," said Yogi Adityanath.
On Wednesday (February 13) Mulayam Singh had surprised everyone when he said, "I wish that PM Modi, you should become the prime minister again. I have experienced that whenever I met you, you got my work done instantly," during a speech on the last day of the 16th Lok Sabha.
The comments come at a time when the Samajwadi Party has entered an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh against the BJP.
Yogi Adityanath used the opportunity to hit out at Mulayam Singh's son and current SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying "It would be nice if like Mulayam Singh his son was also aware of the ground reality."
However, the UP CM denied the possibility that Mulayam's praise came because of the grounding of son Akhilesh at the Lucknow airport. The Yogi Adityanath government had denied permission to Akhilesh Yadav to attend a programme at the Allahabad University and detaining him at the Lucknow airport on February 12.
"Mulayam Singh's is not saying these things because he is scared of what happened [Akhilesh's detention]" said Yogi Adityanath.
Hundreds of Samajwadi Party (SP) workers were booked in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday for protesting Akhilesh Yadav's detention. Speaking on the protests, Yogi said, "Whatever chaos was carried out by SP workers in Kumbh, the report had spread from the university level to the district level a week in advance. I want to say one thing, we will not let anyone break the law in Kumbh, no matter who they are."
Yogi Adityanath also spoke about the CAG report on Rafale that has vindicated some of the claims made by the government. Taking a jibe at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi he said, "There is a joke going around that 'Rafale means Rahul fail'. Rahul Gandhi has failed, that's why Priyanka Gandhi has been made general secretary."
