Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the Congress culture is the anti-thesis of Gandhian thought.
PM Modi quoted Mahatma Gandhi and said that Bapu also wanted to disband the Congress after 1947.
"In many of his works, Gandhi ji said that he does not believe in inequality and caste divisions. Sadly, the Congress has never hesitated from dividing society. The worst caste riots and anti-Dalit massacres happened under Congress rule," PM Modi said in an article penned on the 89th anniversary of the Dandi March.
To challenge the authority of the British and the unfair Salt Laws, Mahatma Gandhi had launched the Dandi March or Dandi Satyagraha on March 12, 1930.
The article with the title, 'When a handful of salt shook an Empire!' reflects on Mahatma Gandhi's perseverance while facing the oppression of the British rule.
PM Modi lauded Gandhi ji and Sardar Patel for their bravery and mettle to lead the Indians towards freedom.
"Today, 89 years ago, Bapu embarked on the iconic Dandi March. Though aimed at protesting unfair Salt Laws, Dandi March shook the foundations of colonial rule and became a strong symbol of fighting injustice and inequality," PM Modi said.
PM Modi also talked about governance and how the Modi government follows Gandhi ji's teachings to alleviate poverty and bring prosperity.
"Gandhi Ji taught us to think of the plight of the poorest person we have seen and think about how our work impacts that person. I am proud to say that in all aspects of our Government’s work, the guiding consideration is to see how it will alleviate poverty and bring prosperity," PM Modi said.
However, the article also bashed the opposition party Congress. PM Modi drew comparisons between the policies of the Congress and what Mahatma Gandhi preached.
PM Modi attacked Congress and said that Bapu spoke about detachment and staying away from excess wealth which was the opposite of what the Congress party did.
"However, all that Congress has done is to fill their own bank accounts and lead luxurious lifestyles at the cost of providing basic necessities to the poor," PM Modi said in his article.
PM Modi also said, "Gandhi Ji had understood the Congress culture very well, which is why he wanted the Congress disbanded, especially after 1947."
"In 1937 itself, Bapu said, 'I would go to the length of giving the whole congress a decent burial, rather than put up with the corruption that is rampant'", PM Modi said.
Towards the end of the article, PM Modi said that he was thankful that his government was working on Bapu’s path and "is fulfilling his dream of freeing India from the Congress Culture!"
