UP Police asks top officials to start identifying Bangladeshis, foreigners living illegally

The Uttar Pradesh government has moved to identify Bangladeshis and other foreigners living in the state on the lines of Assam NRC that has identified 19 lakh "foreigners".
In a letter addressed to all district police chiefs, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has instructed the force to start working on this to identify foreigners in the state.
On Tuesday, the DGP headquarters sent a letter to the superintendents of all districts, IG, DIG, ADG zone and issued instructions to start work on identifying the "outsiders".
According to sources, a draft is being prepared identify railway stations, bus stands in every city or any new settlement on government lands where Bangladeshis or other citizens have settled illegally.
UP Police will identify all such people, their fingerprints will be collected along with other documents, which will be verified.
With this move the Yogi Adityanath government will also try to identify the government officials who helped them in forging fake citizenship documents. Instructions for strict action against such officials can also be issued, especially against middlemen and departmental employees, who helped these "foreigners" in making and getting documents.
