Amitabh Bachchan posted a photo of him burning a phuljhadi with his family on Diwali. Something that did not go down well with fans who trolled him for the same.
At a time when everyone has been talking about celebrating a
cracker-free Diwali to avoid contributing to the already polluted environment,
fans expect the same from stars, especially the ones they look up to. Hence
when Amitabh Bachchan posted a photo of him and his family with phuljhadis, the
sight did not go down well with most of his fans.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrating Diwali

Amitabh Bachchan posted two photos where the family could be
seen burning crackers. One featured the senior actor with only wife Jaya
Bachchan, and the other also featured son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan.
While fans were happy to see them as a unit and celebrating
Diwali, some of them were upset that they were “promoting crackers”. One person
commented, “Burning crackers this Diwali! Not cool at
all...#pollutionfreediwali.” Another one wrote, “Please stop using crackers
...not even a single phuljhadi.”
Some even posted comments in the form of a request, “Sir
please do not burn crackers. You are our role model. We learn things from you
sir..... This is a humble request.” And others were angry, “Amitabh ji
pollution kar rahe hai...#save_environment,” posted one.
The pollution levels in several cities in India has reached
dangerous levels and sensitisation about the harmful effects of crackers has
been on for a while. Several schools ran programmes to make the children
understand the problems arising out of burning crackers.
On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali release, Thugs
of Hindostan, released earlier today and witnessed a 70% occupancy rate. Now
whether the film will set cash registers ringing at the box office or not, only
time will tell.
