At least four people were killed and several injured in a massive explosion triggered by a gas leak in Paris today (January 12). The blast gutted the ground floor of a building in central Paris.
Police sources told news agency Reuters that the explosion took place inside a bakery on the rue Trevise in the Grands Boulevards district of Paris.

The blast was so powerful that besides destroying the bakery, it also shattered nearby storefronts. Witnesses told Reuters that even buildings that are hundreds of metres away from the blast site were also affected by the explosion.
