Realme 3 India launch teased, company says something big is coming soon

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Realme may soon announce the Realme 3 in India
  • The company had previously confirmed a Q1 2019 launch for the Realme 3
  • The Realme 3 launch may happen after the Galaxy M30 and Redmi Note 7
Realme made a spectacular entry into the smartphone market last year after successful back-to-back phones like the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and Realme U1. The company has been pretty quiet since 2019 began, but it seems it is finally ready to launch its first smartphone for the year. Realme posted a teaser on its Twitter account, asking fans to "do the math" by adding the Realme 1 and Realme 2. This quite clearly hints at the launch of the Realme 3, which is set to be the first major release for the company this year.
In an interview with The Indian Express earlier this year, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth said that the Realme 3 would launch in the first quarter of 2019. This suggests the Realme 3 will be announced in India sometime in March. Notably, the announcement will most likely happen after the launch of the Galaxy M30 on February 27 and Redmi Note 7 on February 28 in India.
There is very little information on the Realme 3, or any Realme phone for that matter. It was rumoured a few months ago that the Realme 3 would bring a 48MP camera. This wouldn't be a surprise now as 48MP camera phones are already growing in numbers with the Redmi Note 7, Vivo V15 Pro and Oppo F11 Pro as a few examples. However, the Realme India CEO clarified in an AMA video that the company is not working on a 48MP camera phone just yet.
Sheth was recently spotted in a leaked teaser video dancing to a Gully Boy-inspired Hip-Hop song where you can hear the words Realme 3 and Sheth holding up three fingers. These are some of the clearest indications that the next Realme phone will be called the Realme 3. Realme made its debut in India and has since expanded to a few more countries. The Realme 3 is likely to launch in India first before making its way to other markets.
The Realme 3 is expected to offer a significant bump in design and hardware compared to the Realme 2, but there is no word yet on what we can expect. What we can expect is that the next Realme phone should be available via online and offline channels. Realme was initially an online-only brand, but the company has since partnered with Reliance stores that include over 1300 Reliance Digital and My Jio stores for offline sales of its smartphones. The company plans to expand its offline presence further this year, and has plans to open exclusive experience stores in the country in the second half of 2019.
