Shahid Kapoor will start shooting for the film by the end of the year
After showing his mettle in films like Udta Punjab and Kaminey, Shahid Kapoor is all set to take a step forward in his career. The actor will turn producer for his upcoming film which is based on the life of Manipuri boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh.
The film will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon and will see Shahid in the titular role. According to reports, the film was originally supposed to go on floors in January but it is currently in the scripting stage and will go on floors by the end of the year.
Confirming the news, a source close to the development told a daily, Now, they have joined hands to produce the film. It will be shot primarily in Manipur, besides Delhi, while an international schedule is also being planned, the source added, attributing the initial delays to several rewrites. It’s a difficult script to write, so it has taken time, but it will go on the floors this year. Raja is currently putting the research together with his writers.
Dingko Singh is one of the greatest boxers that the country has produced. He won the King's cup in Bangkok in 1997. He is also bagged Gold medal at Asian Games in the 1998 Bangkok Games. He is service personnel of the Indian Navy.
