Huawei will hold an event on March 26 in Paris where it will announce the P30 series. The company has already confirmed this bit of details through invites shared earlier this week. We expect the series to include a regular P30 and a P30 Pro. One of the biggest rumoured difference between the two flagships will be the number of cameras. The P30 is said to come with triple rear cameras, while the P30 Pro will offer four cameras on the back. This is now seemingly confirmed in a camera sample posted by the company's CEO on Weibo.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer business group, shared a camera sample that has been taken from the P30 Pro's Leica-branded quad camera system. This information has been revealed via the watermark on the bottom left side of the photo. As you may know, some phone makers offer the option to add a "shot on" watermark in some phones. The Huawei P30 has that feature, and the Huawei CEO interestingly did not feel the need to turn off the watermark feature in the camera settings.
The watermark has been awkwardly blurred, but the important parts are pretty clear as day. We can read "Pro" and "Leica Quad Camera" in the watermark, which pretty much confirms that the P30 Pro will offer four cameras on the back. As for the sensors being offered, there is still some speculations. It is rumoured that Huawei will offer a 40MP primary sensor and 10x lossless zoom. Huawei has been teasing the zoom capabilities, in its teasers as well as in this picture of the Moon suggesting impressive retention of detailing even after zooming in a lot.
The latest report is in line with past rumours that the P30 Pro will offer a quad camera setup. Meanwhile, the regular Huawei P30 has been rendered in the past with triple rear cameras. As of now, it is unclear what combination of lenses Huawei will be using, but a telephoto lens is pretty obvious right now. Huawei will continue its partnership with Leica, and it will be interesting to see whether the company can top the cameras on last year's P20 and Mate 20 phones.
Based on what we know so far, the Huawei P30 is tipped to come with a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display, while the Pro model will get a bigger 6.5-inch display. Both the phones are expected to come with in-display fingerprint sensor and Kirin 980 chipset.
