A math equation that was shared on Twitter recently has gone viral as netizens are trying to figure out the correct, rather appropriate answer, to it. "Solve carefully," is the disclaimer that the user, KJ Cheetham issued along with the equation that is: 230 - 220 x 0.5 =? The fact of the matter is that the user has already shared the answer but Twitter isn't convinced.
"You probably won't believe it but the answer is 5!#maths," the tweet read. Most aren't buying that as they are of the opinion that 120 is the correct answer to the problem. Read the viral tweet first and we'll get to the rest later.
Well, if you try to solve the equation on the face of it, the answer is 5. 230 - 220 = 10 and if you multiply that with 0.5, it equals to 5.
It's obvious for some!
Some also followed the BODMAS rule - an acronym that stands for Bracket, Of, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction - 220 x 0.5 = 110 and subtract this figure: 230-110 = 120
But KJ Cheetham soon threw a googly!
However, a certain section of the internet did the honours of reading the equation over and over again, and figured that the exclamation mark written after 5, is a symbol for factorial - "5!"
Hence, proved, should we say? With some help from KJ Cheetham, of course.
Well, you can carry on with your calculations but folks who couldn't care less about the equation are busy posting hilarious comments on the viral thread.
